Additive Manufacturing Technician

As the Additive Manufacturing Technician, you will be responsible for operation of laser powder bed fusion machines and related equipment. You will establish and maintain standard operating procedures, uphold a high standard of continuous improvement, and be the hands-on expert for additive manufacturing at Ursa Major. This role demands a hands-on self-starter who can lead from the front lines.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the operation of laser powder bed fusion machines
  • Ensures machine changeovers are completed with high quality and according to standard procedure
  • Operate metal powder recycling equipment (conveyers, sieves) and maintain powder quality throughout lifecycle
  • Develop standard operating procedures alongside the Application Engineer and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Complete preventative maintenance activities and work with OEMs to schedule necessary service
  • Maintain machine maintenance spares, metal powder inventory, and all related consumables
  • Develop and conduct post-processing activities such as powder removal, support removal, and part finishing including hands on metal deburring
  • Develop powder removal fixtures and processes to aid in complete removal of powder from builds
  • Complete post build inspections and document build results and quality reports 
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing equipment
  • Working knowledge of laser powder bed fusion processes
Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years operating laser powder bed fusion machines
  • Experience with metal powder handling
  • Experience with hands on part finishing (deburring, grit blasting, polishing)
  • Experience preparing manufacturing reports
