Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Lafayette, Colorado
The journey to space starts with the engines.

Ursa Major was founded to bring a new model to space access: one in which every link in an enormous value chain isn’t limited by those around it. We design rocket engines and propulsion solutions.

Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team. A team who will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are comprised of intrinsically motivated individuals who have a passion for solving problems and empower each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.

As a member of our engineering team, you will be expected to own and accomplish more than most think possible with less than many claim necessary. Our business model depends on best-in-class technologies, which means we require a best-in-class team. With multiple products spanning every phase of life cycle, engineers at Ursa Major are expected to be self-starters with a passion for problem solving. We seek to reward good ideas and the ability to execute regardless of prior experience; and most of all hold high standards of teamwork, creativity, and collaboration.

We are looking for a Software Engineer who wants to be an integral part of how we do business at Ursa Major. Advancing our data processing, analytics, and automation to increase company efficiency. You will be responsible for creating User Interfaces, Data Analytics Visualizations, designing APIs, and connecting them to improve our workflow efficiency.  You will interface directly with internal customers to ensure that tools are well documented, understood, and having a positive impact on our operational efficiency.  The results of your work will be visible to everyone in the company to help drive decision making at all levels.

Utilizing data from our test database, you will create automated pre-test and post-test reports, dashboards, data review interfaces, database query tools, and metadata exploration tools. You will increase the efficiency of test through systems that give access to our data faster and with improved insight. If data visualization, clean user interface design, and eloquence from complexity is your thing, this job is for you.

A Software Engineer at Ursa Major is expected to own and inform major system decisions at every life cycle of our products. You will help Ursa grow our software capabilities over time. You will work within a small team to ensure that our software uncovers the patterns hidden in our extensive test data and results in best-in-class rocket engines. You will need to be driven, detail oriented, and focused to support efforts to continually improve our engines. You will have to respond to quickly to development challenges while guaranteeing the high performance and maintainability of our products.
