DescriptionUrsa Major’s team moves fast and does a lot with little. We are looking for a skilled, fast learning individual who can help build our operations team and internal processes. Manufacturing engineers at Ursa Major not only figure out how we build engines, but they look for methods and technology to make them easier to and more reliable to build. Responsibilities will range from hardware dispositions to process development to purchasing and installing capital equipment.
This role will report into the Finance and Operations team of Ursa Major. He/she will work directly with technicians and engineers and will grow to own more of the operations within in the company.
ResponsibilitiesMain responsibilities include:- Process development for assemblies and hardware manufacturing. Includes development of efficient methods of fabrication, documentation and implementing new processes for our technician team.- Hardware disposition including (but not limited to): machining issues, material discrepancies, tolerance stack up issues and assembly errors.- Vendor issue management.- Capital equipment procurement, installation and commissioning.- Ownership of production build schedules and final shipment of customer engines.Secondary responsibilities include:- Feedback to the engineering team on design for manufacturability.- Shop organization and layout. Work directly with Chief Technician on facility layout and improvements.- Methods to improve internal operations.
Qualifications- US CITIZENSHIP OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED- Bachelor and/or Master’s in engineering.- At least 5 years’ experience in Aerospace or a similar field.- Familiarity with process documentation.- Comfortable with technical drawings and GD&T.- Critical component assembly and quality control experience.- Machining experience (lathe, mill, hand tools, etc.) is a requirement.- Tube bending, welding, forming experience is a plus.
